Judge Rules Military Must Start Admitting Transgender Troops on Jan. 1 in New Blow to Trump Ban

President Donald Trump's efforts to ban openly transgender troops from serving in the U.S. military has been dealt with another blow after a federal judge ruled that such recruits must be allowed in starting Jan. 1.

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly clarified on Monday a previous injunction issued in October that the U.S. military must follow former President Barack Obama's memorandum last year, which paved the way for transgender troops to be recruited.

"Any action by any of the Defendants that changes this status quo is preliminary enjoined," Kollar-Kotelly wrote in the latest memo.

Congolese bishops urge President Kabila to announce peaceful transfer of power

Catholic bishops of the Democratic Republic of Congo have requested that President Joseph Kabila affirm that he will not claim a third term of presidency at the conclusion of his constitutionally-limited two terms in power.

“We urge you to reassure the public opinion by a public statement that you will not be a candidate for your own succession,” read a statement from the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO) on Monday.

“We are convinced that this would contribute to easing political tensions,” the statement continued.

President Kabila has been in power since 2001, when his father Laurent Kabila was assassinated. His two-term limit expired in December 2016, but he has refused to step down and did not allow elections for the next president.  A Dec. 31 agreement between Kabila’s government and opposition parties calls for elections to be held by the end of 2017

The National Sports Stadium in Harare, Zimbabwe's capital was packed with tens of thousands of people to witness the inauguration of Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The atmosphere was filled with jubilation as the crowd danced to pop singer Jah Prayzer, who provided entertainment.

Leaders and dignitaries from various African countries came to witness the inauguration as well.

Chief Justice Luke Malaba led Mnangagwa in the oath of office saying he would "be faithful to Zimbabwe", "protect and promote the rights and people of Zimbabwe" and discharge his duties to the best of his abilities.

Mnangagwa was accompanied by his wife, the incoming First Lady, Auxilia, and gave her a kiss after the green presidential sash was placed around his neck.

Mugabe was not in attendance at the inauguration, but "expressed his good wishes and support for the incoming president".

Several reports from local media have said that Mugabe had been granted immunity from prosecution, Mnangagwa has offered the Mugabe family "maximum security and welfare".

Nigeria mosque attack: Teenage suicide bomber kills 50

A teenager blew up himself as worshippers gathered for prayers in a mosque in northeastern Nigeria on Tuesday, killing at least 50 people.

The attack struck Madina mosque in the Unguwar Shuwa area of Mubi, around 200km (125 miles) from the Adamawa state capital, Yola. It is thought to be the biggest mass killing in the country this year and is expected to be claimed by the Islamist militant group Boko Haram.

The area has faced an insurgency from the jihadists and the militants held territory in 2014, although they were pushed out of those areas by troops in early 2015.

A respected Christian math teacher at a school in Oxfordshire is facing discipline for "misgendering" a student.

Joshua Sutcliffe, from Oxford, began working at the school in September 2015 and currently teaches children aged 11-18. He has achieved excellent results, with his Key Stage 3 students outperforming every parallel class.

Serial Killer, Cult Leader Charles Manson Dead at 83

Charles Manson, the wild-eyed cult leader who orchestrated a string of gruesome killings in Southern California by his "family" of young followers, shattering the peace-and-love ethos of the late 1960s, died on Sunday, prison officials said. He was 83.

Manson died of natural causes Sunday evening at a Kern County hospital, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said in a statement. It gave no further details of the circumstances surrounding his death.

He had been serving a life sentence at the nearby Corcoran State Prison for ordering the murders of nine people, including actress Sharon Tate.

Robert Mugabe has been 'neutralised', according to a prominent campaigner in Zimbabwe hours after a military take over that has the hallmarks of a coup.

The 93-year-old leader who has been in charge for 37 years remains in detention as army leaders say they are trying to remove 'criminals' surrounding the president. The move appears to be an attempt to replace the entrenched figure with his deputy, Emmerson Mnangagwa, who was sacked last week and prevent Mugabe's wife, Grace, from taking power.

Ben Freeth, a former farmer in Zimbabwe who rose to prominence when he took Mugabe to court in 2007 over attempts to seize his land, spoke to a local media from Harare describing mass military presence at the airport, in the centre of town and on all the major roads.

'It is quite an interesting situation we have woken up to this morning,' he said.

Interpreting Your Dreams: Is It About You?

A dream without an interpretation is an experience without meaning. It may have been a nice dream, but it won't have the impact God intended until we understand its meaning and respond.

In my last article, I explained that the most important key to interpreting dreams is a relationship with the author of dreams—we need revelation if we want to understand what we are dreaming. As we begin to marry revelation with skill, our consistency and impact will grow.

What are the skills we need to interpret dreams? The first is learning to recognize who the dream is about.

Who Is the Dream For?

Has anyone ever come up to you and said, "Hey, I had a dream about you"? But as they told you the dream, you realized it couldn't possibly be about you. You played only a minor role in the dream, and the dream's content or message made no sense in your life.

This is common. Just because a person is in a dream doesn't mean the dream is about them.

To interpret a dream correctly, we have to determine who the dream is for. We can do this by asking a simple question: What role does the dreamer play in this dream? In most dreams, the dreamer will occupy one of three positions: the focus of the dream, a participant in the dream or an observer in the dream.

School District Orders Coaches to Stop Bowing Heads in Prayer

Heaven help the coach who bows his head to pray in Coweta County, Georgia.

The Coweta County School District issued an edict banning all coaches and other employees from participating in student-initiated or student-led prayer or other forms of worship while acting in their official capacity.

"They cannot join hands, bow their heads, take a knee or commit another act that otherwise manifests approval with the students' religious experience," school board attorney Nathan Lee wrote in a letter obtained by the Newnan Times-Herald.

Filipino bishop a victim of Facebook identity theft

Bishop Alberto Uy of Tagbilaran, on the Philippine island Bohol, was forced to warn his social media friends of online scams after his Facebook account was cloned to solicit donations in his name.

“ATTENTION ALL MY FB FRIENDS: Somebody is making a false FB account of myself under the name Abet Uy, asking for financial help or soliciting something. Don’t believe it,” the bishop said in a statement to his 26,000 followers on Facebook.

The 51-year-old bishop learned about the identity theft Monday, the day before he left to attend funeral rites for Bishop Juan de Dios Pueblos, who died Oct. 21. The fake account includes Bishop Uy in his vestments as a profile picture and him with a group of nuns for the background image.

Bishop Uy will frequently use Facebook to connect to his parishioners, offering them small spiritual insights. This time, he asked for help reporting the scam to Facebook and encouraged his followers not to be misled by the fake requests for financial assistance.

At the end of the same post, the bishop turned to prayer, saying, “Oh God, please forgive those people who scammed your people.”

Facebook cloning isn’t a new tactic by hackers to try and steal money, and recent chain messages have been circulating through the web warning Facebook friends about of virtual scandals.

Christian campaigners have warned of 'outrage' over plans in Scotland that could allow adults and children to change their gender so that legally they are neither male nor female.

The reaction came after the SNP-led Scottish government unveiled proposals to create a 'non-binary' gender for people who do not identify as a man or woman and to make it legal to 'self-declare' which gender they want to be.

The plans mean that people in Scotland could change their legal status to male, female or 'non-binary' without any medical diagnosis or treatment, and potentially switch more than once.

1. King Herod had a wife called Doris. He had 10 wives (not all at the same time), including a Cleopatra and two Mariamnes. He killed one wife, and her mother, after making them testify against each other, and he drowned his teenage brother-in-law at a party. Herod was so worried that people wouldn't mourn him (and they wouldn't – he was a terror), that he ordered the death of much-loved locals, as soon as news spread of his own demise – that way people would really have something to cry about. Thankfully, soldiers tasked with carrying out this wish decided not to, when Herod finally passed. No reported tears were shed.

British missionary killed in Nigeria, 3 others freed

Delta State is in the south of Nigeria and is known as 'the big heart of the nation'.

One of four British missionaries kidnapped in Nigeria three weeks ago has been killed, according to the Foreign Office, but the other three have been released.

Ian Squire was killed following the kidnap on October 14. However, David and Shirley Donovan and Alanna Carson have all returned home safely.

A statement from their families reported by the Daily Telegraph said: 'We are grateful for the support received by the British High Commission, and help from the Nigerian authorities in negotiating their release. We are delighted and relieved that Alanna, David and Shirley have returned home safely. Our thoughts are now with the family and friends of Ian as we come to terms with his sad death.'

Labour politician found dead after suspension amid alleged harassment probe

A former Welsh government minister, Carl Sargeant, who was suspended last week after allegations were made over his conduct with women, has been found dead, police said today.

Sargeant, 49, a member of the opposition Welsh Labour Party and a campaigner against domestic violence, told local media earlier this week that he wanted an urgent investigation into the allegations 'in order to allow me to clear my name'.

In a statement, police said: 'At approximately 11.30 am today North Wales Police were called to a report that the body of a man had been found at an address in Connah's Quay.

'The man has been formally identified as...Carl Sargeant. North Wales Police are not treating his death as suspicious.'

Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones said in a statement: 'Carl was a friend as well as a colleague and I am shocked and deeply saddened by his death.'

Police Apprehend Shooter Accused of Killing 3 in Colorado Walmart

Police in Colorado on Thursday captured a man who they had said calmly walked into a suburban Denver Walmart and fatally shot three people at random before driving away.

Scott Ostrem, 47, was taken into custody without incident a day after the shooting, following a tip from the public, the Thornton Police Department said.

Pope Francis mourns victims in string of recent terror attacks

After nearly 40 people were killed in terrorist attacks this week in Somalia, New York and Afghanistan, Pope Francis voiced his sorrow for loss of innocent life, and prayed for an end to the “murderous” hatred that spurs violence.

During his Nov. 1 Angelus address on All Saints Day, Pope Francis voiced his sorrow for the various attacks, saying he is “deeply saddened” by the loss of life.

What the Winged Horse Reveals About the Water of the Holy Spirit

At this time of year, the winged horse, the constellation Pegasus, takes its place directly overhead at about 9:00 pm. The constellation is easily recognized by the large square formed by its stars, also known as the "Great Square of Pegasus."

There are three horses pictured in the constellations of the Star Bible, and all of them symbolize spiritual power (see Zech. 6:1-8). The first, Centaurus, ("the despised one") is a man-horse combination which symbolizes a man of great spiritual power:  Christ. Centaurus stands directly over the Southern Cross, which shows how the despised one of Isaiah 53:3-5 was pierced for our transgressions and brought us peace. The second, Sagittarius ("the archer") is a man-horse combination announcing the coming of Christ, the arrow of God, the despised one formed in the womb by God to bring salvation to both Jew and Gentile (Isa. 49:1-7).

Eight Dead in Suspected Terrorist Truck Attack in New York

A driver in a rented pickup truck mowed down pedestrians and cyclists on a bike path alongside the Hudson River in New York City on Tuesday, killing eight people and injuring about a dozen others in what authorities said was an act of terrorism.

It was the greatest loss of life from a suspected terrorist attack in New York since suicide hijackers crashed jetliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan on Sept. 11, 2001, killing more than 2,600 people.

This Native American is officially on the path to sainthood

Lakota medicine man turned Catholic catechist Nicholas Black Elk has begun the path to potential canonization with a Mass in South Dakota opening his cause for sainthood.

“From a very young age, there was an openness to the Spirit of God in his life,” Bishop Robert Gruss of Rapid City, S.D. said at an Oct. 21 Mass. “God used a personal invitation from a Jesuit priest to lead this child of God, Black Elk, down a new path to becoming this great disciple in the Catholic faith for the Lakota people.”
